Learning a few simple terms about betting and types of bets will make your day at the Races even more fun. You can
place your bet and collect your winnings at the windows.

What To Say
- State the name of the track (e.g. Colonial Downs)
- State the race number (e.g. Second Race)
- State the dollar amount (e.g. $2.00)
- State the type of bet (e.g. WIN)
- State the horse number(s)(e.g. Number 2)
Definitions
- WIN - the horse you choose must finish 1st ($2 minimum) "$2 to Win on #2" - cost $2
- PLACE - the horse you choose must finish 1st or 2nd ($2 min.) "$2 to Place on #2" - cost $2
- SHOW - the horse you choose must finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd ($2 minimum) "$2 to Show on #2" - cost $2
Exotic Wagers
- Daily Double - you choose the winner of 2 consecutive races
- Exacta - you choose the first two horses to cross the finish line in exact order
- Exacta Box - you choose the first two horses to cross the finish line in either order
- Trifecta - you choose the first three horses to cross the finish line in exact order
- Trifecta Box - you choose the first three horses to cross the finish line in any order
